Supplier Development Engineer, Motors & Magnets | Supply Chain Location: Hayward, CA (on-site) About 1X: We build humanoid robots that work alongside people to solve labor shortages and create abundance. Role Overview: Drive supplier readiness and quality for motors and magnetic systems that power our advanced humanoid robots. You'll work cross-functionally to ensure critical components meet performance, reliability, and scalability standards. Responsibilities: Partner with engineering and sourcing teams to select suppliers based on capabilities in motor and magnetic component manufacturing Evaluate suppliers’ motor winding, rotor/stator assembly, and magnet bonding processes Ensure consistency in torque-speed characteristics, thermal performance, and EMI compliance Support rotor balancing, bearing preload setups, and encoder integration Lead the supplier industrialization process from design through production ramp-up Support suppliers with tooling, equipment, and process qualifications Assess supplier readiness for vehicle builds and manage production risk Drive the APQP process and support PPAP through the start of production Train suppliers on 1X’s quality systems and review pa...
