Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: POSITION PURPOSE Provides daily pharmacy technical and professional services to inpatients, outpatients and other Health Center departments. Dispenses prescriptions and counsels patients on the correct use of medications. Provides drug information to patients and health care professionals in the Health Center. Responds to routine and emergency requests in a prompt, efficient manner requiring some independent judgment, a good level of technical knowledge and a high degree of accuracy. The consequences of a compounding or drug selection error, if undetected, could result in serious patient injury. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs all functions of a Pharmacy Technician on a regular basis. 2. Reviews, processes and dispenses outpatient prescriptions and counsels outpatients on the proper use of medication. Receives verbal prescriptions from physician for outpatient dispensing. 3. Reviews written medication orders to determine clarity, reasonable dose, schedule and appropriate medication usage.
