ICU Director of Nursing DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Chief Nursing Officer - The Director of Nursing provides leadership and has 24 hour responsibility and accountability for the successful operation of a designated unit/department/service. They also participate as a member of the hospital's management team in planning, policy formulation and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions and operation of the unit/department/service. Finally, the DON is a steward of the hospital's mission and service excellence program.
