Part-time Curatorial & Collections Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE: The Part-time Curatorial and Collections Assistant will assist the staff of the Pearce Museum, under the supervision of the Curator, with the care and preservation of the Civil War, Western Art, and Robert Redding collections. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with processing the collections: - Scan Civil War documents for digitization of collection. - Transcribe documents and assist in inventory of the collection. - Research and write Scope and Content for museum management data programs. - Document room for growth in our collection. Aid with preservation of the collections: - Change desiccant canisters in Civil War display cases. - Keep up to date Condition Reports on the collections. - Assure cleanliness of Archives and exhibit spaces. Assist with exhibition development: - Research topics relevant to current exhibit development. - Develop and lead work on a new exhibit. - Assist in locating permanent collection documents and artifacts for exhibit display. - Assist with locating secondary resources for exhibit. - Other duties as assigned.
