REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASS TITLE : CUSTODIAN: BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Operations Manager, perform routine cleaning and custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Perform routine custodial activities at assigned District site or plant. Clean classrooms, restrooms, showers, locker rooms, shops, cafeteria, gymnasium, offices and related facilities. Sweep, mop, scrub, wax and polish concrete, linoleum, tile and wood floors, door panels and hand railings. Wash windows and walls; clean chalkboards; move and arrange furniture and equipment in preparing classrooms/multi-purpose rooms for special events or meetings. Vacuum rugs and carpets; replace light bulbs and lighting tubes; clean venetian blinds, dust drapes and make minor, non-technical repairs as needed. Raise and lower flag; lock and unlock doors and gates; set security system in assigned areas; maintain watering and irrigation schedule. Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority; report need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority; maintain security of building(s).
