Perioperative Assistant - Operating Room

Job description

The Perioperative Assistant is responsible for performing various patient care, safety, and technical duties to support nursing teams and surgeons/physicians in surgical and procedural areas. Activities focus on assisting the surgeon/physician in the performance of procedures, using surgical equipment and instruments, and ensuring all ORs are adequately stocked with appropriate quantity of supplies and equipment. This role maintains a safe, hazard free, clean environment that facilitates patient focused care. The Perioperative Assistant will work in a variety of surgical specialties to provide care to surgical patients. High school graduate or equivalent (GED) with a minimum of one year of Surgical Services experience preferred. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer knowledge. Must be self-directed and able to make independent decisions. Willingness to accept new ideas and work under stressful conditions. The following are preferred: experience working in patient care experience, knowledge of medical terminology and comprehensive understanding of surgical processes and procedures.
