Nebraska Medicine Paramedics function as an interdisciplinary team to serve acute, emergent and critical care patient populations. As EMS professionals in a teaching hospital, we exemplify the creative application of the paramedic role at the bedside and continue to expand the paramedic scope in the hospital setting. Since establishing our role in 2019, Paramedics at Nebraska Medicine have played a key part in expediting urgent processes and delivering efficient, high- level care for our patients. The Paramedic role in the inpatient “STEMI Protocol” has resulted in response time reduction to achieve rapid reperfusion for patients experiencing cardiac emergencies.
