Part-Time Guidance Counselor

Description The Wheaton Academy Guidance Counselor is trained in school counseling and will provide support for the various teams within student services, including academic support, social-emotional support, and registrar work. The Guidance Counselor works on campus five days per week, for 25 hours per week, during the months of August through June (11 months / year). Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: 1. Serve on the academic intervention team and provide general counseling related to academic placement and intervention needs. 2. Provide general counseling regarding social/ emotional concerns, doing so in alignment with Wheaton Academy's mission and Statement of faith. 3. Be accessible and willing to initiate communication with students, parents, and appropriate school personnel in a Christ-like manner. 4. Provide crisis intervention for students when possible. 5. Serve as a Christian role model for students and parents. 6. Make referrals to appropriate outside agencies and provide referrals for long-term counseling as needed. 7.
