The Team: An essential part of the patient's journey, Sterilising Department Technicians are rarely seen but provide a vital role in delivering a quality service to our community. They must work together to ensure cleaning, processing and sterilisation of surgical instrumentation meets the high Standards laid out in AS/NZ5369:2023. Our department is comprised of twenty-two staff members who work under the organisations CARE values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect & Excellence. The Role: The sterilising technician role demands precision, consistency and strict adherence to infection control protocols and compliance. They must identify instruments, apply the correct cleaning and processing methods, and ensure each item meets Australian Standards before it's return to the Operating Room Suite, or external customer.
