POSITION SUMMARY: The Psychiatric Technician apprentice participates as a member of the care team by assisting in the planning, providing, and evaluating of psychiatric patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The PT apprentice works as part of the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of the customer and to support departmental objectives. PT Apprentice will care for individuals with mental or emotional conditions or disabilities, following the instructions of licensed healthcare providers. This position provides quality customer service, participates in performance improvement efforts and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development. The Psychiatric Technician apprentice delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. This position provides direct patient care as needed, to include patient orientation to the unit, assisting with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, reporting observations to the nurse, and participating in unit activities.
