Safety Officer

Job description

As the safety officer, you will patrol designated areas to ensure the safety of people, buildings, and equipment, whether on foot or in a vehicle. You will inspect the security of doors, windows, and gates; use keys to access and secure buildings; and monitor these areas for unauthorized individuals and suspicious activity. Additionally, you will assist the public with lockouts, jump-starts, and information sharing. You must also stay alert for security breaches, safety hazards, and emergencies, and report them immediately to the appropriate personnel and first responders. In this role, you will stay alert to unauthorized individuals and security code violations, approaching suspicious persons to confront or detain them until the police arrive. You will inspect emergency call boxes and streetlights to ensure they work, provide safe transportation for university employees and visitors, and monitor designated parking areas to maintain security.
