The Team: The Team at the Department of Health Tasmania works collaboratively to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care within extended care settings. As an Extended Care Assistant, the team plays a vital role in supporting patients with daily living activities, promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing. The team works closely with nurses, allied health professionals, and families to ensure safe, compassionate, and culturally respectful care, while contributing to a positive, supportive, and multidisciplinary workplace focused on recovery, continuity of care, and improved health outcomes. The Role: Under the supervision of the relevant nursing staff on duty, and in accordance with Agency policies and procedures, the Extended Care Assistant will: - Assist patients of the Whittle Palliative Care Unit with personal care needs, as directed by nursing staff. - Assist with care needs of the patient and families who are being cared for at end of life on Whittle Ward. - In consultation with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and/or the Registered Nurse, will assist in the design, implementation and evaluation of a range of diversional therapy programs to assist with daily living.
