Job Description Primary Responsibilities: General Farm Management · Supervision: Manage employees and daily operations for the greenhouse, open-field farm, and on-site microwave lab. · Compliance: Ensure all activities meet local/federal laws and company safety standards; manage permits for pesticides, water, and hazardous materials. · Budgeting: Track expenditure against the annual plan, implementing cost-saving strategies and managing seasonal labor needs. · Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of all farm equipment, vehicles, lab tools, and irrigation pumps. Field & Greenhouse Operations: · Open Field Activities: Lead all fieldwork, including soil preparation (disking, ripping), bed making, and irrigation setup. · Trial Management: Oversee the precise transplanting of tomato research plots. · Crop Health: Direct irrigation, fertility programs, and Pest Management working closely with the Pathologist and ensuring good quality control · Sanitation: Work with the pathologist to ensure good practice is followed across all operations to maintain healthy plants and resulting seed. · Greenhouse: Manage optimal growing conditions (lighting, temperature, fertigation) for tomato seed productio...
