Job description

Plans for, teaches and facilitates learning for students with physical, emotional, cognitive, or learning disabilities. Creates a positive learning environment, adapts curriculum materials, and collaborates with support staff to help students reach their full potential. Provides interventions and accommodations to students to support the student's participation and progress in the general curriculum. Maintains progress monitoring and special education records. Collaborates with administration and members of the individual education program team to provide and implement I.E.P services to meet the needs of individual students. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive to enhancing interpersonal relationships social skills problem resolution and decision making while achieving academic success. Continuously assesses and evaluates progress toward an Individual Education Program (IEP) goal(s). Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
