The Northwest Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the Northwest Region. This a unique opportunity to join the NWROCU Regional Technical Surveillance Unit (RTSU) as a Specialist Support Officer. ( SSU ) Specialist Support Officers are required to undertake Type E surveillance operations utilising specialist covert tactics and equipment in the gathering of intelligence, targeting organised criminality and other force and regional priorities. Candidates must hold the following prerequisite training to be eligible to apply : The successful applicant will also need to undertake Type E training ( 2 x 4 week assessed courses at the College of Policing ) and must have a minimum of 5 years’ service remaining to be eligible for the role. Candidates for this challenging position must be highly motivated and disciplined, work well as part of a team and remain calm under pressure. Applicants should be aware that SSU tasks can be physically demanding and should be able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, responding at short notice, day, or night to time critical operational requirements.
