Sterile Compounding Specialist - Southampton Hospital POSITION SUMMARY: In addition to Staff Pharmacist responsibilities, the Sterile Compounding Specialist will oversee the performance/operations of the compounding area within the Hospital Pharmacy and Phillips Family Cancer Center. Additionally, the Sterile Compounding Specialist will be responsible for the personnel compliance (documented assessments and trainings) as related to the preparation of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs). The Sterile Compounding Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all Joint Commission standards regarding CSPs, including the Environmental Monitoring of the IV Room areas and all related duties, as well as articulating the Hospital’s policies and procedures to regulatory agencies. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Follows established departmental policies and procedures. - Compounds, labels, and packages medication and pharmaceuticals. - Advises medical and nursing staff on the use of various medications including dosage, side effects, and composition. - Ensures secure storage and counts of narcotics and other controlled substances on a regular basis. - Assists in preparing required reports...
