DESCRIPTION OF WORK: North Carolina’s House of Representatives is seeking a highly qualified professional to work as a Legislative Clerk in a Democratic Legislator’s office. Legislative Clerks assist Legislators, also known as Legislative “Members” of the House, in fulfilling their public obligations by providing support services in the areas of administration, communication, research, and public relations. This position requires a high level of organization and accountability as well as the ability to perform independently and maintain composure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position is a permanent, full-time position. Days of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, when the House of Representatives is in session, evening work may be necessary on Monday through Thursday and occasionally weekend work may be required as the job duties demand, based on the needs of the Representative. This position is under the direct supervision of the Representative and has no direct supervisory responsibilities, unless requested by the Member to assist in the supervision of an intern.
