INTERN POSITION: CITY OF ATLANTA DEPARTMENT OF LAW: General Description: The City of Atlanta Department of Law hosts its annual Summer Internship Program. This program provides students who are interested in public sector law the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals while gaining knowledge and improving legal research, writing, and advocacy skills. It also offers participants the unique opportunity to gain experience in this multifaceted practice, including but not limited to: Assisting with the provision of legal advice and counsel services to various departments within the City; Learning civil litigation skills and assisting with trial preparation; and, Gaining transactional law experience by assisting Attorneys with legal research and drafting. Essential Functions: Legal Research: Conducting research into legal cases, statutes, precedents, and other relevant topics. Document Drafting: Assisting with drafting legal documents such as motions, briefs, and demand letters. Case File Review: Reviewing and organizing case files, discovery materials, and other relevant information. Court Attendance: Attending court hearings, depositions, and mediations with supervisors.
