Position Purpose: The Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (SIMCU) at Mount Carmel East is 32 beds. The Registered Nurse (RN) would expect to see a mixture of post-surgical and trauma patients. This unit is great experience for new graduate RNs wanting to learn skills and/or see a wide variety of patient population. It can also make a great transition for those interested in the OR/PACU. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1. The Registered Nurse RN, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
