POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Manager Facilities Services the Life Safety Technician is a hospital based technician responsible for maintaining, inspecting, testing, calibrating, replacing and repairing life safety systems, with a focus on correcting Environment of Care (EOC) deficiencies within the hospital. The Life Safety Technician will work with the Environmental Health Specialist to keep track of maintenance schedules and ensure all inspections, EOC deficiencies and testing are done according to standards and codes set forth by manufacturers, federal, state, and local jurisdictions, and customer requirements. Education: Experience: - High school education or equivalent required - Associate degree or two years of Vocational Technical training in (EOC) life safety, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems preferred. - Within one (1) year of hire /transfer, successfully completes The American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), NFPA-99, “Healthcare Facilities Code”, Certificate of Attendance.
