SUMMARY: Connecticut Children’s, a nationally recognized, 187-bed not-for-profit children’s hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, is seeking an Academic General Pediatrician to provide inpatient newborn care at its partner birthing hospital. The Newborn Hospitalist is accountable for delivering comprehensive quality patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions according to standards of practice to premature and term infants in the well baby nursery environment during initial hospitalization after birth. The hospitalist will lead an inpatient team including advanced practitioners and residents within an integrated academic model. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Treat and evaluate term and premature newborns ( >/=35 weeks) during the initial birth hospitalization and promote the health of the child and family. Primary areas of care to include the Newborn nursery, Low Risk Delivery Room stabilization within Connecticut Children’s partner hospital. Respond to and/or supervise UCONN/CCMC residents and advanced practitioners in managing low risk newborn stabilizations in the Delivery Room as well as normal newborn and transitional care in the Well-Baby Nursery environment.
