Job Title: Nursing Assistant Department: Medical Surgical: Location: Massena Hospital: Schedule: 730a-330p, 330p-1130p, and 1130p-730a SUMMARY: A Nursing Assistant supports patient care by assisting with hygiene, mobility, and basic needs while maintaining a clean, safe environment. They perform tasks like recording vital signs, collecting specimens, and helping with feeding. They also promptly respond to call lights and communicate patient needs to the care team. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist patients with bathing, oral hygiene, hair care, nail care (excluding certain patients), elimination needs, dressing, undressing, repositioning, and mobility. Provide comfort care, including back rubs, and maintain a clean, safe, and neat patient environment. Administer enemas and collect specimens (urine, stool, sputum) as directed by the nurse. Measure and record vital signs, intake and output, patient weight, and apply ice packs and elastic stockings as ordered. Support patients with feeding, distribute nourishments and fresh water, and assist with passive and active exercises.
