Summary: Applicant must possess an Associate’s Degree in Medical Records or Health Information Technology. A certificate in Medical Records or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential is preferred. Candidates must have one year of medical records experience, along with extensive knowledge of medical records standards, State laws, HITECH, HIPAA, Mental Health Records, and 42 C.F.R. Part 2. The applicant must also demonstrate a thorough understanding of proper release of information practices for patients, physician offices, subpoenas, court orders, insurance requests, disability claims, workers’ compensation, and State and Federal governing agencies, while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with RSBCIHI policies, State laws, and HIPAA privacy regulations.
