WPIX has an immediate opening for a reporter. The successful candidate is a dynamic, editorially driven journalist responsible for originating, developing, producing, and delivering high-impact news content across television, digital, streaming and social platforms. This role demands strong enterprise skills, a deep roster of contacts, on‑air authority, digital fluency, and the ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced, competitive newsroom serving the most diverse and demanding audience in the country. The ideal candidate is equal parts storyteller, journalist, and content producer—someone who can break news, add context, and elevate daily coverage with depth, accuracy, and urgency. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: News Gathering & Story Development: - Pitch, develop, and report compelling enterprise and breaking news stories that matter to the New York metropolitan audience. - Cultivate sources across beats such as government, public safety/crime, business, transportation, housing, health, and culture. - Research, verify, and contextualize complex topics quickly and accurately. - Evaluate and pursue leads, tips, and data to create original reporting.
