Support Scientist for Operational Wave Modeling Development

Overview Lynker is seeking a sharp Support Scientist for Operational Wave Modeling Development, to support NCEP/EMC in the development of future operational implementations of the wave forecast models as a part of the Unified Forecast System. The candidate’s work will involve the development of the wave model WAVEWATCH III® within regional and global domains, testing and evaluating wave model performance both for standalone and coupled applications, and supporting integration of the wave model into end-to-end systems. Responsibilities: Duties of the Support Scientist for Operational Wave Modeling Development will include the following: - The candidate will perform the job duties in an independent, collaborative and initiative way, applying innovative methods for the primary work areas. - The candidate will work with others on wave forecast system improvements and for transition-to-operations, and will also work with external collaborators to develop and improve the wave modeling component for use within the Unified Forecast System (UFS) framework.
