Position Function: Conduct research in area of specialty. Publish scholarly articles, monographs, and books in area of specialty. Participate in professional meetings by giving papers, presiding at sessions, and serving as discussant. Promote the development of the archaeological profession locally and nationally by reviewing books and articles for professional journals, serving on professional society committees and boards, and serving as consultant for local and national groups and agencies as the need or occasion arises. Teach undergraduate survey courses. Teach site survey (site discovery, delineation, evaluation) field school for undergraduates and graduate students with leveling needs. Teach excavation field school as necessary. Teach advanced undergraduate students in upper-level topical or area courses. Teach graduate courses in area of specialty, including seminars, special topics, and directed readings. Serve on graduate committees for M.A. students. Direct graduate M.A. theses. Serve on departmental, college, and university committees. For tenure-track but non-tenured persons, expectations in this category are limited. Seek external funding via grants or contracts. Salar...
