Job description

A Swine Technician in a Wean-to-Finish system manages the daily care of pigs from weaning until they reach market weight focusing on health, and welfare of pigs. This role involves performing tasks related to animal husbandry, health management, feeding, marketing and facility maintenance to ensure the highest standards of swine production. Essential Functions: - Daily monitoring of health and follow protocols. - Ensuring proper barn temperature, ventilation, and air quality. - Barn preparation between groups of pigs. - Assisting with pigs’ movements. - Managing feeding schedules, cleaning feeders, checking waterers, and ensuring optimal feed availability for growth. - Maintaining accurate daily records. - Pig market selection and marketing. - Strict adherence to biosecurity protocols. - Follow animal welfare, biosecurity regulations and company policies. Marginal Functions: - Light groundskeeping and upkeep around the farm - Power washing - Light maintenance - Other duties and projects assigned by the Farm Manager.
