Department Summary The Native American and Indigenous Studies program is housed in the Department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (SISS), at San José State University. SISS is part of the College of Social Sciences and is committed to equitable and inclusive teaching and learning. The College sees faculty and student success as inextricably linked and strives to provide culturally sustaining and academically affirming approaches to supporting and engaging students and faculty. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching at short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins in mid-January and ends in mid-May.
