Description The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Science at American University invites applicants for a postdoctoral position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor to develop C-14 labeled cellulose nanomaterials useful for EHS studies. The qualified candidate will work with Dr. Douglas Fox’s research group. Laboratory work will be carried out at NIST in the Material Measurement Laboratory under joint supervision with NIST scientists. The appointment is a 12-month term position and will commence on or after February 1, 2018. The appointment is for one year with possible extension depending upon funding and productivity. Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Environmental Science. Experience in studying EH&S behavior of nanoparticles is highly desirable. Preference will be given to those with experience in preparing radio-labeled nanoparticles, quantitative characterization of nanoparticles in biological and environmental solutions, and chemical degradation of nanoparticles.
