The Optometrist 2 performs ocular examinations to detect disease or abnormal conditions of the eye. Moreover, an employee in this position prescribes eyeglasses, contact lenses, and drugs to treat eye disorders. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS: Diagnoses eye and vision problems as well as some conditions caused by systemic diseases. Examines visual acuity, depth, and color perception. Assesses ability to coordinate and focus eyes. Prescribes contact lenses and glasses. Provides vision therapy and low-vision rehabilitation. Analyzes test results and develops treatment plans. Administers drugs to aid in the diagnosis of vision problems. Prescribes drugs to treat some eye diseases. Provides preoperative and postoperative care.
