Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral part of the patient care team. The RN assists in the delivery of high quality, individualized patient care. The RN autonomously practices within the scope of RN licensure as defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing, and the Nurse Practice Act. The RN advocates for patients and their families, the care team and the organization. The RN designs and carries out the plan of care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluation. Responsibilities: Is aware of patient presenting problem, and past medical history. Completes head-to-toe assessment and gathers relevant patient data (vital signs, labs, etc.) to gain clear understanding of patient status. Monitors for improvement or deterioration of status and intervenes as appropriate. Notifies MD of changes in status. Accurately and safely administers medications per orders; scans 90% or more of all administered medications. Titrates infusions per organizational protocols.
