Job description

Position Summary: Demonstrates proficiency by performing routine and emergency echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2‐dimensional, 3‐dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiograms, as requested by a physician and in accordance with standard practices. Provides echocardiography service at all necessary locations and providing emergent call coverage as scheduled. Experience: Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within this field. Ability to use independent judgement to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed. Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and the patient’s needs. Able to follow established departmental procedures. Able to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations - Requires a two‐year allied health degree and successful completion of an approved one‐year program in Ultrasound Technology and at least two years’ experience in the field. - Requires registration or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent organization.
