Student - Theatre and Dance Production Technical Assistant

Job description

Description: Student employees will support the Theater & Dance department’s production s, specifically in the areas of tech nical production , as required by a specific production ’s needs. Work is done in the Kaleidoscope’s scene shop, Lenfest Theater, and Blackbox Studio Theater, under the direct supervision of the Theater & Dance department’s Tech nical Director & Production Manager. Schedule may vary weekly. Shop hours are typically scheduled in the mornings and afternoons during the week. Some evening and weekend hours will likely be required during a production ’s load in period and tech weekend. Typical work week may average between 12 and 20 hours. Responsibilities: Requirements : - Assist in the fabrication, painting, install, maintenance, and strike of Scenic Production elements. - Learn and practice a variety of skills (depending on the needs of the production ) including scenic carpentry, props construction, metalworking, scenic painting, costume maintenance, and theatrical rigging. - Train on the theaters fly-system and operation along with other specified theatrical equipment. - Help with the set-up of both theater spaces for rehearsal and technical rehearsals. - Ass...
