Description The Department of Justice, Law and Criminology in the School of Public Affairs at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment for Academic Year 2023-24. The appointment will be at the rank of Professorial Lecturer and is a 9-month term position. The position will commence on August 28, 2023. Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field (e.g. sociology, criminology, criminal justice, political science, international relations, or public policy) or other terminal degree. The position will require the incumbent to teach three courses per semester. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service. The successful candidate will teach courses across our programs in Legal Studies and Justice & Law, including (but not limited to) the following courses: Justice and Public Policy; Introduction to Systems of Justice; Violence, Justice and the Law. Preference will be given for applicants who have experience teaching research methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Application Instructions: Salary is competitive.
