Job description

The City of Katy is accepting applications and resumes for the position of Maintenance Worker for our Streets Department. SUMMARY: Performs general landscaping duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Trims trees and bushes; cleans gutters; mows and edges grass; applies fertilizer and mulch; sprays weeds; collects trash. - Participates in City-wide emergency response; clears debris from accidents and weather events; posts advisory and warning signs, conducts traffic control as necessary. - Performs other duties as required. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES: High school diploma or equivalent; AND one (1) year of general maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Valid Driver's License is required. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: - Operating basic landscaping equipment. - Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. - Following instructions. - Understanding of landscape irrigation systems, including repair, service and/or installation, preferred. - Safety policies, procedures, and practices.
