Description Public Philosophy Seminars are designed to support faculty-initiated projects focused on public engagement. Preference is given to proposals that both (1) clearly articulate a connection between theory and practice and (2) engage with contemporary social or political issues. Applicants should propose one of three types of seminar, listed below. Proposals for all types of seminars will be considered. 1. Academic knowledge : Seminars of this type are focused on advancing academic knowledge. Agendas for these seminars might include readings of current academic work presentations of works-in-progress from Hamilton faculty or faculty and graduate students at other institutions. 2. Relationship-building : Seminars of this type propose to build relationships with community partners, bringing together academics and community practitioners for regular formal or informal conversation and networking. 3. Community partnership : Seminars of this type propose an agenda to implement a relevant community partnership with a community agency, or as a free-standing initiative available to a specific community.
