Position Overview: - Department: Lactation - Schedule: Part time - 2x12hr shifts per week - Work Location: UAB St Vincent's Birmingham - Benefits for eligible positions only include: generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more What You Will Do: Provide lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants. Serve as a lactation-related clinical resource, educator, and mentor. - Perform initial and on-going assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues. Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promote the importance of breastfeeding. - Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assists with their development. - Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding. - Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes. What You Will Need: Education: - Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) preferred. - Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing...
