Job Description The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is currently accepting applications for the part-time position of Data Reductionist. The job involves working in our computer labs to review and analyze digital video and data collected in various research projects in order to analyze and document driver behavior, road conditions, data quality, etc., following detailed protocols. Data formats to be analyzed together include (but may not be limited to) synchronized video from multiple perspectives, graphical/tabular data, and audio data. Successful applicants are those who are able to sit and pay close attention to detail for extended periods of time, possess strong critical thinking skills, and can work and communicate effectively both independently and as part of a team. The data review involves visual review of data (ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth) and listening (ability to hear and interpret real-time audio). Additionally, reduction involves operating and entering information within the proprietary software system (hand/finger dexterity).
