Contacts inpatients and outpatients to collect blood specimens by means of venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other specialized procedures. Performs outpatient EKGs at the Outpatient Center and as necessary within the hospital. Verifies that patients meet collection and test preparation criteria. Instructs patients as required in the collection and handling of urine and other specimens. Sorts and transports specimens, requests and results to appropriate destinations. Obtain and process laboratory specimens for testing. Provide clerical and receptionist service to the lab. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) 2. Completion of Phlebotomy Certification Course, Medical Assistant Program, or graduate of a nursing program.
