Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Job Description: Faculty, Adjunct Position Overview: The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors to teach the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) : SCI 6600 Infectious Diseases Epidemiology (Spring, 3 credits) Course Description: Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health problems, with the goal of disease management/control/prevention. This course will provide an overview and introduction to epidemiology, while exploring considerations specific to infectious diseases, such as outbreak detection, contact tracing, containment, and vaccination. Statistical and methodological approaches used in epidemiological research will be examined. In addition to applications in public health and clinical practice, this course will consider the role of epidemiology in targeting unmet medical needs and identifying opportunities for innovations that detect, treat, or prevent such problems.
