Classification Title: Veterinary Assistant Classification Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Job Description: University of Florida’s Veterinary Community Outreach Program (VCOP) is recruiting a veterinary assistant. The VCOP program is designed to introduce students to the challenges of veterinary practice in both community and shelter environments and give experience in spay and neuter techniques plus preventative medicine of canines and felines. Example of Veterinary Assistant Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to: Animal restraint for exams, catheter placements, bandage changes, anesthesia, etc. Obtain vitals such as TPR and record appropriately in medical record Assist with patient intake and discharge Assist with recovery - Patient Care & Husbandry Document in patient’s medical record: Sweeping and moping Maintaining inventory Processing laundry Disinfecting and cleaning equipment regularly Ensuring cage and runs are cleaned daily The service receives Monday - Friday.
