Department: SOM Wichita Surgery Surgery - Medical Education Staff Position Title: Medical Student Education and Skills Lab Coordinator Job Family Group: Professional Staff Job Description Summary: The Medical Student Education Coordinator coordinates and provides centralized support for the medical student program at KUMC – Wichita’s Surgery Department. Under the direction of the course director, this position coordinates and oversees administration of medical student courses, including the Department of Surgery Enrichment (SER) weeks, the department’s clerkship program, and advanced selective and elective courses. The coordinator supports the medical student/clerkship director(s) and department chair related to medical education and is responsible for administrative duties. This position also coordinates the surgery skills lab, which requires planning and preparing for various skills labs and proctoring Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery and Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery exams held in the skills lab.
