Job description

Job Overview: As a Specimen Processor, you would be responsible for providing technical and clerical support of the Microbiology Department at the Midtown Laboratory location, which may include one or more of the following: receiving, processing, plating, culture processing and incubation, correct sample storage and distribution of lab specimens. This position may also perform data entry, packing and shipping samples, equipment preventative maintenance, and problem solving. Key Responsibilities: - Receive, inspect, and log patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) into the laboratory system. - Accurately label and prepare samples for testing according to lab protocols. - Ensure specimens meet quality standards and report discrepancies or issues. - Maintain proper storage and handling of specimens to prevent contamination or degradation. - Work closely with laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and medical staff to ensure efficient workflow. - Follow all safety and infection control procedures while handling biohazardous materials.
