QUALIFICATIONS: Must maintain Basic Life Safety (BLS) certification. Must maintain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Must maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Texas state license: Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care required. Minimum five years in an acute care setting. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Responsible for the safe and effective administration of medically prescribed medications, knowing their indications and contraindictations. - Knows and follows the indications and contraindications, the policy, and procedures in administering therapeutic modalities to include: HHN and lung expansion therapy. - Sets up and monitors oxygen administration. - Sets up oxygen cylinders and assures proper usage and safety measures are in place. - Performs arterial punctures using radial and brachial sites independently.
