Position Title: Benefit Programs Specialist I Salary Range: $52,853.00 (Minimum) Salary is commensurate with job-related experience, particularly within a local department of social services (LDSS). Position Overview: The Benefit Programs Specialist I is an entry-level position within the Benefit Programs occupational series. Employees in this role work under close supervision while receiving training to determine eligibility for a variety of social services assistance programs. Upon successful completion of training and demonstration of competency, employees may advance to Benefit Programs Specialist II, the full-performance level. At this level, employees independently determine and re-determine eligibility for financial assistance programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, Childcare, Title IV-E, VIEW, and Energy Assistance, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Specialists exercise independent judgment in evaluating clients’ social and economic circumstances, seeking supervisory guidance only for complex or unusual cases.
