Job description

The Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant will provide non-OR inpatient care for the Cardiac Surgery service, including managing patients in the Cardiac Surgery ICU, stepdown unit, and serving as the initial point of contact for all inpatient consultations. Responsibilities include performing assessments, coordinating daily patient care with attending surgeons, and providing coverage for the office-based PA staff. This role is entirely non-operative, and no OR responsibilities are included. The Physician Assistant plays a central role in supporting all non-OR aspects of patient care. Job Profile Summary: A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education.
