Visiting Assistant Professor of English (Transatlantic Literature)

Description The Department of English at Knox College invites applications for one-year appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor of English, beginning September 1, 2023 with specialization in nineteenth-century transatlantic literature and an emphasis on diaspora, abolitionism, and/or settler colonialism. Knox is an independent, selective liberal arts institution with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a diverse environment. The department offers courses in literature and creative writing. Candidates should be able to teach introductory and advanced courses in both specialized and general fields. Candidates should also present evidence of culturally responsive pedagogy that can engage with a diverse student body. Teaching responsibilities include two classes per each of three 10-week terms (Fall, Winter, Spring) as well as contributing to support for advanced students in English and related academic programs.
