Job description

Description The Hospital/ER Registration person is responsible for the overall management and daily operation of the support functions for the patient care unit. This includes assisting with the admission, transfer, and discharge of inpatients, emergency room patients, and outpatients. Responsibilities: Assists with the admission, transfer and discharge of inpatients, emergency room patients, and outpatients. Operates switchboard to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments. Participates in the patient admission process and appropriate chart completion. Obtains necessary signatures on admission forms, Medicare forms, etc. Verifies insurance and manages pre authorizations as appropriate Completes census sheets and communicates with Revenue Cycle regarding patient admissions. Responsible for assembling and disassembling of charts per facility standard. Accurately verifies all demographic and benefit information through previous registration, direct contact and/or language translation line. Assists with transfer paperwork as requested.
