Lactation Consultant - Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum Unit Part Time - 40 hrs. Biweekly - 8am -430pm The Lactation Consultant plays a vital role in enhancing the breastfeeding experience for expectant and new parents on the LDRP unit at Meritus Medical Center. This position provides education, support, counseling, and hands-on assistance to patients and families while collaborating closely with medical and nursing staff to assess, manage, and resolve breastfeeding challenges. The Lactation Consultant also serves as a clinical resource for staff, promoting evidence-based lactation practices and optimal maternal–infant outcomes. Overview of Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide individualized breastfeeding education, support, and counseling to expectant and postpartum parents. Deliver direct patient care, including assessment and management of breastfeeding and lactation concerns. Develop and implement plans of care in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members.
