The ECMO Coordinator is a Clinician who undergoes very specialized training in the various forms of Extracorporeal Support and has administrative duties parallel to Assistant Nurse Managers (ANMs) and incorporates a leadership requirement for the department. With limited supervision, the ECMO Coordinator reports to the ECMO Nurse Manager. For each shift worked, the ECMO Coordinator sets up and operates the extracorporeal circulatory equipment that provides the replacement of a patient’s circulatory, respiratory, and /or renal functions within the intensive care unit, operating room, and / or cardiac catheterization lab.
